Andrew Knight:

The directors of Times Newspapers Holdings Ltd (TNHL) have today elected Andrew Knight as Chairman.

Rupert Murdoch, who was previously Chairman of TNHL, recently resigned his position on this Board.

Rupert Murdoch said:
“Andrew has been an invaluable presence on the News Corp Board for the last two decades and I am delighted that he has agreed to take on this important role. His experience and insight as a journalist and as an executive will be a huge asset to The Times and The Sunday Times as they face the challenges and seize the opportunities of the future.”

Knight has served as a Director of News Corporation since 1991 and as chairman of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee of the Board. He will resign his position as a Director of News Corporation at the next AGM on 16th October 2012. He was previously a Chairman of News International from 1990-1994.

Knight is a Director of J Rothschild Capital Management. He served as Chief Executive Officer and Editor in Chief of the Daily Telegraph plc from 1986 to 1989.

After a period in banking, Knight joined The Economist as a journalist. In 1974, at the age of 34, he was appointed editor, a post he held for 12 years
